The $3,500 John F. Hamilton Memo-
rial Scholarship for 2017 was awarded to

supported by donations to the annual
Presidents’ Memorial IBABC Golf Classic.
Michelle is a second-year mechanical
engineering student at the University of
British Columbia who recently received
early admission into the mechatronics
specialization for 2018. She hopes to use
this specialization to “…challenge the
limits of machinery, especially in the
realm of robotics, to make manufacturing safer, greener, and more efficient.”
In addition to her studies, Michelle
takes the time to volunteer for various
programs such as UBC’s Zero Waste
program, which aims to reduce all waste
at UBC by 2050. She also volunteers for
ENG-CITE, an outreach program with
the goal of increasing female enrolment
in engineering to 50% by 2020. Despite
having such a busy schedule, Michelle
still makes time for part-time employment at F. Adams & Associates Insurance
Services Ltd. as an insurance broker.

risk management. Brent is currently in
his third term of the General Insurance
and Risk Management program at BCIT.
Presenting the award to Brent was Terri
